Where Do Stem Cells Come from and How do They Work?

Stem cells are revolutionizing medical treatments. The use of stem cells is still very new, but the results are promising. Especially for treating musculoskeletal pain.

So, what exactly are stem cells and why are they so special? The cells in your body have a specific mission. Stem cells are different. They're unspecialized and can have several different missions. It all depends on what they're trying to heal.

Right now, there are many types of stem cells or regenerative cells that help to relieve musculoskeletal pain; adult stem cells or donated regenerative cells. Both are working to effectively manage pain when medicine and other options don’t work.

Adult stem cells

Adult stem cells are cells that aren’t devoted to any specific part of your body...yet. They’re undifferentiated cells. What’s amazing is these cells have the ability to divide. And change into the cell type they're found in, in order to repair damaged tissue.

When adult stem cells divide, they also separate into more than one type of cell. This means they could possibly regenerate an organ from only a few cells.

Adult stem cells are most commonly harvested from bone marrow or fat. They're more often taken from bone marrow. These cells remain inactive until they’re needed to regenerate tissue from an injury or disease.

Doctors have used stem cells for decades to treat leukemia and other bone and blood cancers.

Donated Cells

Amniotic membrane and Wharton’s Jelly cells, from the placenta and umbilical cord, are usually thrown away after birth. Scientists have discovered that amniotic fluid and Wharton’s Jelly membrane are valuable. They contain powerful growth factors and lubricants which aid cell regeneration and rejuvenation.

These tissue products are safe and effective for those who are in pain or suffer from other health issues like heart or lung disease.

Stem cells are good news for those with musculoskeletal pain

Do you suffer from back or joint pain? There's good news. Adult stem cells are beneficial for treating pain. And can transform and grow into connective tissue, cartilage, disc, and tendons. Stem cells work to repair deteriorating bone, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and muscles. So you can better manage your pain.

At Regenerative Sport, Spine and Spa, we use stem cells and donated tissue to treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. Our patients experience relief without prescription medication. And so can you.
